CFDA Awards 2015 Report

Events, Latest trends

Kim Kardashian’s fire emergency aside, this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards was full of fashion inspiration and sartorial surprises. Celebrating the very best of fashion design, the CFDA Awards this year did not fail to amaze and to provoke a deeper love for the industry and it’s creative minds.

But before we get to the awards part of the evening, let me bring you some choice red carpet snaps of my personal picks for best dressed.

Image from People StyleWatch

Kim’s grommeted Proenza Schouler gown was undoubtedly one of the most memorable looks of the night. Those feathered shoulders brushed a candle at some point during the night, but luckily Pharrell was there to lend a hand. Wanna know more? Check Kim K.’s Instagram.

Gotta love Natasha Poly‘s sexy take on red carpet glamour.

Image from

Monique Lhuillier and Michelle Monaghan are picture perfect. Classic black and elegant gold, I love it!

Image from

Julianna Margulies’ metallic gown is alluring and is just the right amount of sheer. Gotta love Michael Kors‘ black suit too, a menswear classic staple.

Image from

Zachary Quinto‘s sophisticated tuxedo looks even more amazing beside Gigi Hadid‘s blingy and youthful take on the 70s with her gilded jumpsuit.

Image from

I am simply dying over Emmy Rossum‘s LBD! It’s simply stunning and has the right details into it.

Image from

Style maven Miroslava Duma is excellent at dressing for her frame. This mini dress with intricate embroidery is a refreshing ensemble and is so fashion forward.

Image from

Leandra Medine from famed blog, Man Repeller, took her quirky sense of style to the CFDA Awards, and it was terrific! Love the bandana on her wrist!

Image from

Katharine McPhee took a definite sartorial risk in her long vest and trouser look, and it definitely paid off.

Image from

DJ and It Girl Harley Viera Newton and designer Cynthia Rowley look printastic in these babydoll shift dresses. The prints are retro yet modern.

Which looks did you love? There were just so many good ones! Red carpet glamour and jaw-dropping fashion aside, the other great part of events is all those memorable quirky moments before the show, during the show, and after it. What better way to take a peek into the full CFDA experience than through Instagram? Here are my favorite Insta snaps from the night.

Chrissy Teigen‘s wardrobe malfunction had her date Stuart Weitzman coming to her rescue. Phew, that was a close call. She looks adorable in this Insta snap though!

I love this funky nail art! Guess whose these David Bowie tips belong to? Blogger Chiara Ferragni, of course! Screen shot 2015-06-04 at 12.17.46 AM

Makeup check! Everyone has to check their beauty look before stepping out, right? Aren’t you just in love with her fresh faced look?

Victoria Beckham is oozing elegance as she is escorted by fashion industry insider Hamish Bowles. Still working it even in the rain.

And now, onto the winners! All the winners were movers and shakers that definitely deserved the awards they received. Each one of these designer’s unique vision has shaped the industry and the fashion world.

If you haven’t heard of Mansur Gavriel, you’re not a true fashionista. The covetable minimalist bucket bags from the brands are must-haves for It girls everywhere. Floriana Gavriel and Rachel Mansur, the creatives behind the brand, won the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.

Kanye West presented Pharrell Williams with the Fashion Icon Award. He completely deserves it. His recent collaboration with Adidas is proof of his design acumen and style savvy.Screen shot 2015-06-04 at 12.27.43 AM

The night wouldn’t be complete without a Betsey Johnson split. The fun and forever young designer won the night’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and stayed true to her playfulness by repeatedly breaking out her splits throughout the night.

I hope you had as much fun as I had looking through all the fashion and Insta-worthy moments from the CFDA Awards. Until next year!

Singapore Fashion Week: Victoria Beckham

Events, Latest trends

This year’s closing show was Victoria Beckham AW15, with her favourite refined silhouettes, amazing fabrics and modern feel.

I am sure everyone already knows all this so I am going to let the video I took speak for itself.

And for those who were expecting VB to take a few steps on the runway:

Harpers Bazaar New Gen

Events, Latest trends

When it comes to deciding what to do on a Monday night, I don’t usually get too excited. Monday night comes with low expectations, lots of emails to sort through and a feeling of weekend being very far away…

Well not this week!

I had spent my Monday night with an SG50 sign in one hand and a champagne flute in the other meeting the winners of the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia new Generation Fashion Designer Award and celebrating Singapore’s 50th Anniversary.

Here are some shots of the winner collections, which you can still view right now with our own eyes in Scotts Square. So head down to Scotts Square before the 3rd of May to check it out!

Lionel Low

Monochrome has never been so complex and daring: mesh, huge cut outs, pleats and more come together in Lionel’s collection.

Benjamin Neo

It is all about the shape and graphics in Benjamin’s collection. Those glasses Benjamin wears must be 4 dimensional 🙂

Silvia Teh

And the Winner of Harper’s BAZAAR Asia new Generation Fashion Designer Awards – Silvia Teh. Silvia gives you very flattering shapes with awesome graphics.

Our winners with Bazaar Singapore Editor-in-Chief Kenneth Goh(on the left)

Many thanks to Harpers Bazaar Singapore, Scotts Square, Kenneth Goh, Joelyn Ho and Grace Chua for organising and hosting this wonderful event!
