10 Ways to Wear Fur

Latest trends

The fall/winter season means that fur is back in vogue. Not that it ever went out of style, that is. Fur is always chic, but of course, it’s more appropriate to don it during the colder months. Regardless of whether there’s winter in your area or not, fur is still a glamorous wardrobe piece that you should consider investing in. There is simply so many ways to style and wear fur!

Here, I’ve handpicked 10 amazing ways to wear fur. Read on for 10 ways to style different fur looks:
0eaaa3ba357b125b22a98ff60cbd3d53

Don’t limit yourself to just fur outerwear. Fur accessories, just like this scarf, can instantly make you more lush and luxurious. Rule number one: you don’t need to dive full on into a trend, sometimes dipping your toe in with a statement accessory is all you need.

Fur spells glamour and sophistication. So it becomes even more sartorially interesting when you pair it with something so laidback and casual like denim. This unexpected texture pairing works so well together. 4da6fbd32ea4d3d9a0345262c3e35441

Boho looks can definitely benefit from fur, since it enhances the 70s feel of your look. Broaden your horizons beyong neutrals and be bold with multi-colored shaggy fur.

One of the most wearable ways to wear fur prominently is a fur vest. If you live in warmer climates, this is your best bet in wearing fur. A fur vest gives the right amount of warmth and rich texture for those chilly nights. This piece is also so easy to dress up or dress down. You can get so creative with the styling! I particularly love styling this fur vest with button-downs. So simple and chic!

56da9b982c2885b3103b5afd6afc706d

Blame Karl Lagerfeld and Fendi for every fashionista’s newfound obsession with fur keychains. More than just something to adorn the it bag you’re rocking, fur keychains make a statement that you’re up to the trends. 67bcda287d246681a10f34fd324f48db

Fur stoles are definitely vintage inspired. Drape over both your shoulders or play with asymmetry by just placing it to one side, either way a fur stole gives your ensemble more old world elegance and sophistication. Go monochromatic, just like this look above, or you can use it to accent your look.14345af0b46ffbd9145109ca74bd34dc

A fur hat is a low maintenance and cool girl way to get some fur into your personal style. What a great way to, no pun intended, cap off any winter look! Don’t forget to finish off your brows to complement your oh-so-luxe head gear.

b166cc6f5483cb25be0b94dfbb86f363

Add some more flourish and fun into your clutch game. Opt for an oversized fur clutch in a rich jewel tone, this accessory will kick up a cream-colored sweater or even a plain white tee.

eb0beb78814a036c8ed72efdcb75a799

A brown fur coat is just CLASSIC. And as they say, you can’t beat a classic. Increase the Kate Moss feel of this piece when you wear your brown fur coat with motorcycle boots, ripped second skin denim and wide brim hat. This is London street style at its best. s-chem-nosit-yubku-solntse-31

Leave it to Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific to style fur in the most uniquely refreshing way. Worn over a denim top and cowhide print skirt, you can plainly see how wearable and versatile fur can be. Pair your fur stole or scarf of choice to an animal print for a more exotic feel. This look screams “Call of the Wild.” I love.

Trend Report: Japanese-Inspired Fashion

Latest trends

This 2015 a lot of designers looked to the East for inspiration, specifically Japan. The land of the rising sun definitely has no shortage of beautiful landscapes, unique art, and cultural heritage and history to draw from. Designer runways, from Alexander McQueen to Tibi, prominently featured design details directly drawn from Japanese culture and tradition.

I love how designers translated Japan’s heritage into wearable and fashion-forward pieces that every woman would love to wear. I, for one, would love to own something Japanese-inspired. The East meets West aesthetic is just so modern to me. Here is my take on Japanese style for Singaporean designer Silvia Teh. Click here for the full fashion spread that I previously blogged about. Here are some of my favorite looks from the shoot:

IMG_7325

IMG_7738

There are 4 styles that characterize this trend: origami detailing, tied/obi belts, kimono silhouettes, and japanese print motifs.

Silvia Teh’s design certainly reflect all 4 of those trends. I mean, how amazing is that wave print on the jacket? I also loved that navy kimono vest tied with an obi belt as well as the piece with an origami ribbon detail around the chest.

Here’s a closer on look on the 4 key pieces that comprise this hot trend:

Origami Details

Architectural and sculptural folding details are being integrated into runway looks this season. Instead of dressing up your clothes with jewelry, why not be progressive and opt for origami detailing that lends your look a futuristic yet sophisticated appeal? Margiela’s approach interprets origami via silhouettes that emulate origami’s stark folds and calculated proportions.

Kimono Style

Probably the most wearable out of all the Japanese-inspired fashion trends, kimono styles easily translate from one season to another. Keep an eye out for exaggerated sleeves, billowy fabrics, and wraparound silhouettes. What’s great about kimono styles is that it’s flattering to most figures and can be styled for either casual outings or fancier events.

Tied/Obi Belt

To look more in the know, swap out your leather and metallic belts for fabric belts that you can easily tie around your waist. It adds an air of chic nonchalance to your look, and it feels so on trend. You can choose thicker or thinner bands depending on your figure. If you’re looking to make more of a bolder statement, look for the full-on wide obi belts.

Japanese Print Motifs

Be on the lookout for vintage-looking Oriental flora print or ancient art inspired prints. It’s patterns like this that will make you stand out head and shoulders over the fashion pack. Consider this the more high fashion alternative to your typical prints.

Runway Review: Versace Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear

Latest trends, Reviews

Whenever I think about Versace, I think about a sexy and powerful woman. Donatella Versace has mastered the art of dressing the modern woman in outfits designed to inspire confidence and provoke a visceral reaction. This season she has succeeded, yet again, in capturing the spirit of the woman we all want and aspire to be. Each look she sent down the runway was more alluring than the last, culminating in quintessentially Versace dresses. Who is the ultimate Versace woman you ask? Hmm, just ask Gigi Hadid. She definitely rocked some classically sexy Versace at the end of the show.

I personally fell head over heels in love with this Versace Spring 2016 collection. Read on for my favorite looks, I’m sure you’ll fall as hard as I did.

_ARC0061

_ARC0121

Donatella’s bevy of miltary-inspired olive green clad beauties definitely started the show with a bang. How can you not love the leggy blazer worn as dresses? Tailored shorts with boxy blazers and mini dresses were accentuated with two accessories, which I predict will be must-haves next year–soft leather satchels in khaki tones and utilitarian waist-cinchers with that eponymous Versace lion. Another noteworthy styling moment? Check out the sheer ankle socks with the sky high olive green strappy platforms. School girl chic with an edge.
_ARC0191

_ARC0293

_ARC0359

_ARC0419

Now we can’t expect Donatella to show us typical camouflage do we? In true Versace fashion, she took the fashion army theme of her runway collection and expanded it into prints that fit perfectly into the glamorous and sexy Versace brand. Using leopard and zebra print in green and bold purple hues, Donatella created her own type of camouflage. Whether it’s the acid green leopard print dress that Behati Prinsloo rocked, or the edgy pastiche of animal prints, or even the sheer spiderweb frock with leopard green spots, I am 100% sure that this print is one that we’ll be seeing a lot of this upcoming season. Oh, and don’t forget that these trippy animal prints have matching structured backpacks too. Dibs on that!

_ARC0635

_ARC0743

_ARC0781

_ARC0963

Donatella is known for slinky dresses and dangerously sexy garments, so it was a surprise when she showed pieces that appealed to the more tomboy chic crowd. Tailored shirt dresses with voluminous sleeves, a coordinating olive green suit with relaxed fit sleeves and drapey bottoms, and even some crew-neck sweaters and bomber jackets were done up in Versace style, that is with their signature glamazon aesthetic. Though the silhouettes were decidedly more laid-back, the prints and the styling were in sync with the rest of the collection.

_ARC0851

_ARC0945

I love this part of the Versace show. The earthy tones with the pop of neon orange is a nod to the current dominance of the 70s. I especially love how Versace owns it super sexy aesthetic with incredibly high slits.
_ARC0975

_ARC1113

_ARC1129

Now, we know that Versace won’t end it’s show without some red carpet stunners. These 3 are my top picks for frocks that I’m sure tons of stylish celebrities will love to rock this upcoming season. The combination of different textures and prints keeps the mini dress silhouette current and edgy. I can totally see these dresses on the likes of Rihanna, Blake Lively, and Beyonce. Consider me smitten with Versace Spring 2016 dresses.

Runway Review: Chanel Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear

Latest trends

There was the Chanel supermarket then Brasserie Chanel, and now comes Chanel Airlines.

Airport Style has been buzzed about a lot. Fashion and street style websites and social media have all been obsessed with what celebrities and bloggers wear to the airport. Having style while in transit has never been as important as it is now. And Chanel has definitely picked up on the zeitgeist, just like it always does. With an impressive Chanel Airlines set and the creative genius that we’ve come to expect from Karl Lagerfeld each season, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Chanel is one of the most talked-about and highly praised shows this Spring 2016 Fashion Week season.

chanel-spring-2016-airport-set-runway-show-w724

There were a lot of impressive looks that went down the runway. Lagerfeld, time and time again, expertly combined modern trends with signature Chanel detailing to stellar results. Before we get into my favorite looks, let me show you the details that I fell in love with from the Chanel Spring 2016 RTW collection.

chanel-spring-2016-runway-airport-suitcase-like-quilted-jacket-h724

You can’t really have a travel-centric collection without chic luggage. I mean, how adorable is this quilted Chanel luggage set? I’m in love with the pop of neon yellow, and I love how the luggage somehow resembles some detail of the classic Chanel jacket.

_A2X0186

If you’re still in doubt that blue eyeshadow is making a comeback, look no further that Chanel’s beauty look this season.

_A2X0559

Airplane prints on knit separates somehow feel very 60s and oh-so-chic.

_A2X0912

Baseball caps were a popular runway accessory, and you can bet this hat trend will find its way to your closet soon.

_A2X1024

Airplane pins are another quirky accessory trend that is totally wearable. I think I’m going to get one.

There were a lot of noteworthy trends from Chanel this season. Aside from the accessory and print trends I mentioned above, Lagerfeld dazzled us with artsy oversized mirrored sunglasses, billowy and voluminous skirts worn over pants, silver and PVC low-heeled booties, studded flatforms, layered silver chokers, and metallic biker gloves. The silhouettes this season was decidedly more laid-back, with a double breasted and more casual incarnation of the tweed suit (as worn by Kendall Jenner below) and soft-to-the-touch coordinating knit sets. I especially love Chanel’s take on patchwork denim, which is less boho and more tailored and structured. There is also a more feminine flair to this collection with hem embellishments and ruffles bisecting pieces that have a more forgiving loose silhouettes. I am certainly loving the more playful direction Lagerfeld took Chanel this season. The whole show is just a visual feast, from the prints to the colors, there is so much inspiration for your eyes to take in!

Runway Review: Oscar De La Renta Spring 2016

Latest trends, Reviews

Peter Copping is currently at the helm of the fashion house, Oscar de la Renta. Taking over for such an eponymous designer and historic brand is not an easy task, but Copping is more than up to the task. His recent Spring 2016 collection was inspired by the romance and danger of Spanish matadors. Copping took color inspiration from Oscar himself by centering his collection on a beautiful shade of dark carnation red that Oscar favors. One of the most memorable collection for the Spring 2016 Fashion Week, I loved how this season the brand really embraced its signature sensual femininity.

Here are my personal picks for the most memorable runway looks for Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016:

_OSC0035

Capes are going strong this season. You can clearly see the matador inspiration here. Consider capes your go-to spring outerwear.

_OSC0065

Lace + carnation print + ruffles + the perfect shade of vibrant red = STUNNING.

_OSC0077

For women who love black, this is an amazing, modern yet totally romantic way to get more color into your wardrobe. A bold red hue peeking underneath a sheer black dress with beautiful pleating details is simply sophisticated.

_OSC0185

A more fashion forward alternative to the trendy slip dress, I love that this dress has the right amount of sheerness. Take note of the floral applique on the pumps too! How elegant!

_OSC0261

Espadrilles are the quintessential summer shoe, and I love how they styled the runway ensembles around this typically casual shoe. These espadrilles are another indication of the Spanish influence in the collection.

_OSC0423

Hunter Green moves into spring with this flirty halter neck eyelet dress. Bring out those cabochon statement earrings for daytime, and style it just like this runway look. So chic!

_OSC0501

The tiered ruffles and the painterly appeal of the carnation print make this dress a standout. The lace and ruffled collar neck give it a Victorian feel.

_OSC0629

This seafoam green turquoise color hybrid is one of the brighter hues in this collection. It really stands out from the predominantly red and black pieces. I also love how the sweater is belted at the waist and paired with a shimmery skirt. Office style inspiration, for sure.

_OSC0699

Mustard yellow lace? Yes, please. This is such a refreshing and dramatic take on the summer lace dress.

_OSC0841

A multi-color pom pom sweater worn over a slinky peek-a-boo lace dress? I can totally see the Olsens or Miley in this look. Sexy and feminine yet still so cutting edge.

And now we come to the forte of the Oscar de la Renta fashion house, EVENING WEAR. Is there anyone better than Oscar de la Renta when it comes to glamour that is equal parts show-stopping and jaw-dropping in its elegance? Nobody does it better than de la Renta. Even Carrie Bradshaw knows that. For some serious evening gown inspiration, or envy, take a look at my picks below. Watch out for these beautiful frocks in the coming months, I am so sure that Hollywood celebrities and style stars will be lining up to wear these.

Which de la Renta look did you love? I absolutely fell head over heels for the last look! The off-shoulder detail and the glove-looking sleeve is TO DIE FOR.

Style Icon: Nicole Kidman

Latest trends

Multi-awarded Australian actress and producer Nicole Kidman has made a solid name for herself in the film industry as a prolific actress with major acting chops. Tall, statuesque, and striking Kidman has played a variety of roles ranging from Virginia Woolf to Grace of Monaco. Her famous relationships, a marriage with Tom Cruise and her successful marriage with Keith Urban, aside, Nicole Kidman has more than her acting achievements and Hollywood and worldwide fame going for her. She lands on the best dressed list almost every single time she steps onto the red carpet. Her red carpet style is classic and flawless, just like she is.

Here are my picks for Nicole Kidman’s best looks on and off the red carpet:

8c7ca754d56b7e752eab0c33a74339b6

An update on the classic LBD, the sheer paneling of this dress and the little collar detail just make for an absolutely darling combination. Nicole finished off this look beautifully with black onyx drop earrings and a pair of red sexy stiletto heels. 012415-nicole-kidman-594

We’re not accustomed to seeing Nicole Kidman dressed down. But even her version of dressing down still contains her signature polish and sophisticated sense of style. The polka dot sweater and printed trousers work so well together because of the unified color scheme of black and white. I especially love the slightly oversized cuffs peeking out from underneath her sweater. The black bow pumps are amazing too!b809f559597b26bab0eb864d061100a6

What makes this dress a red carpet standout is that bow tied around the neck, which cascades to the back. Kidman is an expert at selecting red carpet gowns that combine a simple silhouette with a dramatic detail, this is one such dress. The halter neckline is also perfect on her lithe frame. She lets the color sing and keeps her beauty look natural. main.original.585x0 (4)

This sweet springtime inspired frock is completely adorable. What adds a bit of edge to it are the cutouts laid over top and her sleek up do. Opting to finish off the look with a pair of coral pumps is a great choice as it adds a strong hint of bright hue to this ensemble. main.original.585x0

Kidman’s brand of sex appeal is all about showing off the right things. Whether it’s her toned shoulders or in this case, her great legs, she abides by the rule of thumb that you should only expose one portion of your body to achieve tasteful and sexy at the same time. The studs on her dress and the multiple straps on her footwear add to the seductive feel of this look. Nicole+Kidman+Dresses+Skirts+Beaded+Dress+GbiKxF_luhTl

This embellished gown gives a strong statement on color. The understated and elegant navy color is what provides the timelessness to this dress, any other color would’ve been too boring or too over-the-top. Navy hits all the right notes. Special attention must be paid to Kidman’s beauty look here, center parted poker straight hair with smoky eyes and pink pout, so modern and elegant. Nicole+Kidman+Dresses+Skirts+Cocktail+Dress+6Hfb7yKsgSYl

I am positively in love with this dress! It is one of those dress silhouettes that has a little bit of vintage inspiration but definitely feels contemporary. Nicole looks stunning in it! The dress hugs her every curve and looks great against her skin tone and red hair. Nicole+Kidman+Pants+Shorts+Leggings+G8a50T7hwysl

Nicole Kidman does casual in leggings, a bohemian loose top, and strappy gladiator sandals. Her sleek high ponytail, structured beige leather tote, and chic black sunnies make this casual outfit look more pulled together. She looks so cute beside her handsome hubby, Keith Urban!

Which Nicole Kidman look are you loving? Why not channel her style at your next party by wearing classics with a simple yet elegant twist.

Best of Singapore Fashion Week 2015

Latest trends

Singapore Fashion Week may be over, but there’s still a lot of inspiration we can draw from it. There were so many exceptional shows and I met so many amazing people. You’ve probably seen a lot of runway reviews by now, but here are the best of the best. It’s quite a tough task given all the talented designers and stunning shows we witnessed. Read on for my picks for the best shows during this year’s Singapore Fashion Week.

Best New Designer: Collate The Label by Velda Tan

What’s great about Singapore Fashion Week is getting to know new labels and seeing the great work of up-and-coming designers. Velda Tan, the creative and innovative mind behind Collate The Label, certainly distinguished herself during Singapore Fashion Week with her modern, minimalistic, and luxurious approach to women’s wear. The Collate The Label runway show generated a lot of well-deserved buzz and earned itself a loyal fashion fan following. Here are some snaps from the show:

Billowy wide leg pants, and matching coats in neutral tones were a hit on the runway. Structured dresses with feminine details like peplum and pastel colors were also key trends.

Best Atmosphere: Harper’s Bazaar Asia New Generation Show

I love young talent! There’s just a different energy and an elevated sense of excitement when young talent showcase their distinctive aesthetic on the runway. Harper’s Bazaar certainly provided these designers a great platform to make their creative visions come to life. Fashion designers from all over Asia were represented. Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore all had representatives who showed their designs on the Singapore Fashion Week runway. I absolutely loved everything about Silvia Teh’s designs. She is such a hardworking talent and it is always a pleasure to see such amazing people win.

Best Clothes: Victoria Beckham

Among all the stellar shows, one stands head and shoulders above the rest, and that is the finale Singapore Fashion Week show by Victoria Beckham. The certified style icon and bona fide fashion mogul flew in to Singapore as part of her Asia tour, and her collection definitely didn’t disappoint. Fashion fans got the understated elegance and modern glamour that they were expecting from Posh’s namesake label. Victoria Beckham’s collection showed off beautiful tailoring with impeccable detailing like intricate folding patterns and men’s suiting details. It was to say the least, nothing short of perfection, the ultimate collection for the modern woman who loves and lives fashion.

One of the standout pieces from the show, a structured gray frock with origami-like waist detailing and large buttons and a tailored silhouette.

I love how she integrated a bit of playful prints into the predominantly somber autumnal color palette of the collection.

Style Icon: Victoria Beckham

Latest trends

Victoria Beckham, known to 90s lovers as Posh Spice, has truly made a name for herself in the fashion industry. Her early affinity for designer labels, Gucci in particular, and little black dresses shot her to fame–not counting her membership in mega girl group Spice Girls, of course. She may be out of the entertainment industry now, but she has managed to plant her foot firmly into the fashion and retail industry. Her namesake fashion line, Victoria Beckham, has been staging one stunning season after another, and the handbags from her line are quickly reaching cult status with fashion industry insiders. She is more than just an ex-Spice Girl and she is definitely more than one half of “Posh and Becks,” she has made herself into a style icon and fashion mogul.

Victoria is coming over to Singapore to close Singapore Fashion Week 2015 this Sunday. With all the tickets to her show sold out way before all the rest it is obvious there is no hotter celebrity right now. To those hoping David is going to join his sweetheart at her show: I’m with you people!!!

Here are my picks of Victoria Beckham’s best looks ever:

main.original.585x0

Is there anything more classy and luxurious than a camel colored look? Victoria Beckham proves its timeless appeal. With details like a cap toe heel, leopard print handbag and a ribboned belt, she elevates the innate elegance of this camel trousers and trench pairing.

main.original.585x0 (3)

Red is such a powerful color. Wearing it from top to toe is a testament to one’s confidence and fashion savvy. A neat ponytail and classic sunnies finish off this sophisticated fiery red look. Note that embellished waist detail and conservative yet fetching dress slit.

main.original.585x0 (2)

Covered up for the fall and still sexy, Victoria Beckham is indeed the master of looking glam at any time of day. Clad in a comfy white turtleneck and a knit skirt, Becks truly wows with the ultimate autumn outfit accent, a sexy pair of tall suede burgundy boots.

main.original.585x0 (1)

Airport style is another fashion arena where Victoria Beckham shines. Her jet set lifestyle as a fashion designer, mom, and wife to a soccer star, takes her to many places and she always makes sure that she looks amazing at every destination. A blue oxford button down with a floral pencil skirt is laid back and simple, yet amazingly put together too.

54bc042883443_-_hbz-victoria-beckham-13-lg

Victoria Beckham has always been a fan of fashion luxury. Her fur shrug and Hermes Birkin proves her love. Worn with skin tight skinnies and black ultra high platforms, she still gains a fashion edge and avoids that brand victim trap.

54bc0424c7896_-_hbz-victoria-beckham-07

Pencil skirts are key to Victoria Beckham’s signature personal style. A classic 50s combo of sweater and pencil skirt gets upgraded with a scarf, to add a certain Parisian flair. Becks is certainly one woman that oozes that “je ne sais quoi.”

An ultra girly and adorable mod inspired frock takes centerstage in this ensemble. Balanced with rock n’ roll ankle booties, Victoria Beckham surely defines style with an edge in this look. I just love the scalloped detailing in this look.

This look is a bit of a throwback from Victoria’s fashion archives, which is precisely why it cements her style icon status. Even during her youth, she already knows what works for her sartorially. Chic and simple, her former trademark angled bob perfectly accents her cream colored flouncy tiered ruffle dress.

Fur makes another appearance in this list, and this definitely showcases her British spunk. Neatly pulled back hair, an oversized envelope clutch, plus a one-two punch of opaque tights and ankle booties, Victoria Beckham’s style is overflowing with so much pizzazz and undone glamour.

I am so in love with Victoria Beckham’s style! This post is definitely full of wardrobe inspiration. Which look will you be copying this week?
