Style Icon: Elena Perminova

Latest trends

Siberian-born model Elena Perminova has been a permanent front row fixture as well as a fervent supporter and wearer of haute couture. Perminova is a member of the ubiquitous ‘Russian Pack’ along with Ulyana Sergeenko and Vika Gazinskaya, both couture designers; and Miroslava Duma, a fashion journalist and style blogger. More than putting Russian fashion on the map, Perminova adds a distinct charm and playfulness to her looks that makes her style so exciting to observe. Wife to media mogul, Alexander Lebedev, and mother of three, Elena Perminova’s jet set lifestyle and taste for the finer things in fashion betrays her down-to-earth charm and youthful sartorial individuality.

Here are some of my favorite street style and Fashion Week looks from Elena Perminova:

main.original.585x0 (1)

A straw hat with a metallic platinum dress is simply put, a stroke of style genius. Perminova has always proven herself to be the master of unexpected fashion combinations, and this look is a testament to her fashion savvy. Notice how her casual flats balance then ultra short hemline and evening appeal of her high shine frock? Definitely a styling tip to take note of.

main.original.585x0 (2)

With the “it bag” of the upcoming spring season, the Chloe Drew bag, slung around her toned shoulders, she sashays effortlessly into another fashion show front row, no doubt. The bright blue hue of the bag stands out against her minimalist chic off-white sweater dress and thigh-high boots duo.

main.original.585x0 (3)

Showing off her penchant for color, Perminova puts her own spin on the classic trench dress as she dons it in a beautiful deep turquoise. With a trendy 70s silhouette, she teaches us a thing or two about statement dressing. Pick a maximum impact piece, and let it shine.

main.original.585x0 (4)

Displaying the one-of-a-kind blend of edgy elegance that she is known for, Perminova puts together a patent crocodile print with a prim navy blazer and tough gal chic Balenciaga cut-out boots for a look that is bursting with street style cred.

main.original.585x0 (5)

Want to dress up your denim? Take your style cues from Elena Perminova. A feminine ruffled blouse tucked into dark denim with a light stone wash is given the high fashion treatment with such choice add-ons such as a pair of sleek white pumps, an oversized tan leather clutch with zipper embellishments, and a pair of round sunnies.

main.original.585x0 (6)

If your LBD game needs a refresh, do like Elena and go matchy-matchy with your accessories. Her matching tweed Chanel 2.55 bag sneakers give a dose of urban cool to her plain black knee-length black dress.

main.original.585x0 (7)

A true style maven for high-low dressing, she exhibits her enviable fashion prowess and her treasure trove of designer and unique pieces in this memorable street style outfit.  A pale pink embellished lace dress is typically for the red carpet, but Perminova makes it street style friendly with the addition of lace-up boots, a black military style blazer, and a wide brim hat. Instant downtown chic.

main.original.585x0

Leave it to Elena Perminova to find a completely new way to wear your standard cognac leather tote. While most people would reserve this carryall for their denim-and-tee looks, she confidently rocks it with a floor-length gown with floral appliques on the hem. Bow down to the master of high-low, street meets couture dressing.

Sprint-Trend-SportyYou can count on more sportswear detailing and materials propping up even in the most classic of silhouettes. From Gucci to Marni, DKNY to Marc Jacobs, locker room wear is a trend that’s here for the long haul. Incorporate this sought-after look into your wardrobe, and get inspired with my top 10 picks for the best sporty summer looks:

99b8bf696a51cdc4bbd97cdfc2e9bd1b

Wearing your sneakers with a relaxed tee and tote in a matching color is an advanced style move that makes your casual attire look a little bit more polished and pulled together.

a3efc49fd457eb159bd2bb71569d48f5

Trousers with a single vertical white stripe is an understated nod to jogging pants. Take it to another level by using it to diminish the dressiness of the sequin top and studded heels.

a34b7bba3a27412035ce70ce7d0d5b4e

Mesh details are hot, hot, hot this season. Turn up the volume on this sporty material when you wear it with distressed jeans and menswear inspired loafers.

Athletic-Trend-Jillian-Lansky

The drawstring and pocket detail of these shorts allude to its gym attire origins, but the ankle strap sandal and oversized camel coat make it look updated and super chic.

main.original.585x0 (1)

Change up your crop top, and go for a sports bra instead. Wear with a high-waist pleated skirt, and give a fresh and twist on the athletic trend.

main.original.585x0 (2)

You won’t look a like a dad when you wear sneakers with jeans and a blazer. Just bear in mind that your separates should be tailored and not baggy.

main.original.585x0 (4)A striped sleeved T-shirt gives a subtle nod to sportswear. Topping it off with a crystal statement necklace and lucite heels makes it unique and personal.

main.original.585x0

Never downplay the value and impact headwear can add to your ensemble. Just by simply wearing a baseball cap, you can dip your toe into the athletic wear trend. Opt for baseball caps done in a more luxe material, like this leather cap, and avoid sports insignia at all costs.

new-york-21-682x1024You need not be limited to blazers and boxy jackets when choosing a piece to complement your favorite graphic print pencil skirt. A varsity jacket is the way to go, when you want to add a bit of sporty glam to your street style.
ValleyMag

Gray sweatpants must always be paired with something more formal or a more rigid or tailored shape to it. By using a leather vest to layer the look, you don’t look like you’re lounging at home or sweating it out on the treadmill.

Why not try this trend out for size? You might be surprised at how many chic points you’ll score!
