If you’re a fashion fan, you’re familiar with the style icons of our time. Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Beyonce are just some personalities that are considered style royalty. There is a new crop of style stars on the rise, most of them are Young Hollywood celebrities that are learning the ropes of red carpet dressing and standout street style at a young age. When it comes to fashion, age ain’t but a number. Some of these young ones are showing extraordinary sartorial prowess, take notes from the new generation of style icons. I’m sure they’ll teach you a thing or two.

Zendaya

Triple threat (actress, dancer, and singer) Zendaya started out in the Disney Channel. But she is now coming into her own, especially when it comes to her bold fashion choices. She always surprises fashion fans with her red carpet outfits and her statement making street style. I love how Zendaya’s style always has an element of danger to it. Whether it’s a thigh high slit or the effortless pairing of white sneakers with an embellished evening look, her looks are always on the cutting edge.

Maddie Ziegler

Maddie Ziegler of Dance Moms fame skyrocketed into the public eye through her star-making appearance on Sia’s “Chandelier” video. From there, she has been appearing in both the big and small screen. She is now poised for a fashion takeover, which these days, is the natural progression for most up-and-coming Young Hollywood personalities. Maddie has had experience as an ELLE correspondent for fashion week, and has appeared in publications and editorials for Teen Vogue and Glamour among others. She’s certainly embracing fashion with open arms, and I just love her playful style. She always comes in looks that are age appropriate, and I adore how she plays up bright colors in her looks!

Bella Thorne

Actress (and Zendaya’s BFF) Bella Thorne always wows with her outfits. She typically has girly and feminine style, but she can sometimes mix it up with more edgy and sexy looks. These two looks below are especially telling of her sense of style. She always adds feminine flair to all her looks. Bella Thorne always looks polished to boot. She always makes sure that her looks coordinate perfectly.

Kiernan Shipka

Mad Men alum Kiernan Shipka is most often lauded for her amazing style. She consistently nails glamorous looks that still feel appropriate to her age and her build. Her petite frame is always elegantly outfitted in tailored separates or structured dresses that never overwhelm her or make her look older. Shipka is proof that dressing your age is a worthy fashion goal to aspire for.

Sarah Hyland has been making fashion headlines as of late. Her unexpected yet totally spot-on glamorous red carpet looks have landed her firmly on the best-dressed radar. Take a cue from her, and don’t be afraid to get some more haute couture flavor into your everyday looks.

Style Icon: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is poised to take over Hollywood with her recent role in Mad Max: Fury Road. This supermodel and erstwhile actress has also been attracting attention largely due to her amazing style. From her off-duty airport looks, red-carpet glamour, and casual chic street style, Rosie H. has been consistently on the mark.

Her covetable closet and impeccable style aside (and her longtime relationship with Jason Statham), Rosie Huntingon-Whiteley has been one of the most successful models as of late. Starting her career with Victoria’s Secret and Burberry, this supermodel has been the darling of the fashion world.

Rosie is a complete pro in conveying her signature sultry elegance.

On the cover of Vogue Deutsch, she exudes the classy gait of the modern woman. I love this red trench she dons on the cover. Not to mention her enviable pout.

 

Shooting an exclusive with more avant-garde Exit Magazine, Rosie shows off her bangin’ bod in this peek-a-boo one-piece number. I love the feel of the editorial, from the styling, setting, and art direction. It feels so very Mad Max: Fury Road, no?

Now onto the style… Rosie Huntington-Whiteley‘ style has been well-documented and widely admired for good reason. She simply exudes an effortless sophistication with just the right hint of sexy. Her style is something to be inspired by, for sure.

A green glitter column gown with strategic cut-outs looks amazing on Rosie. What makes this look even more stunning is her adorable shoulder length bob. s is how you dress up for a star-studded Vanity Fair party.

This is such an adorable take on retro dressing. Vintage print, knee-high suede boots, and round sunnies spell instant mod style.

A canary yellow draped dress makes her look every inch of the goddess she is.

All white gets more exciting with a fuzzy white texture. It really all about texture, ladies.

Street Style Trend: Summer Whites

I love that I live in a country that’s pretty much has summer weather year-round. For those fashionistas in the Western Hemisphere, summer will officially be in full swing in a couple of weeks. I’d like to take a cue from these street style stars and follow their lead on this trend–summer whites.

White is such a classic and clean color. I love its purity. I love its timelessness and elegance. All white was considered poor sartorial form for just a couple of years ago but now, white is an all year long style staple. Yes, even whites in the fall/winter fashion season! But nothing beats the effortless effervescence of all white in the summer. Peep my picks and styling tips below, and rock your best white #OOTD this season.

Wrap dress + jumpsuit = TOTAL CHICNESS. I love how this one-piece integrates a classic flattering wrap dress silhouette on top. Add a sleek hairdo and you’re set.

A breezy white tee and mini combo looks summer festival ready with buckled strappy sandals and a playful ikat textile satchel. Increase the coolness factor of this look with layered jewelry.

A linen wrap dress with a slit feels like the perfect intersection of classic and current. The leather mules and black oversized sunnies make this look feel so Olsen twins inspired. I really love the Olsen Twins‘ style!

Chiara Ferragni is the top blogger for a reason, her style is simply amazing! I am in awe of how dynamic she makes all white look, especially for the transitional season. Lace up shorts plus snakeskin sneaks? Oh yes!

Mechanic jumpsuits are another top trend for the season. It certainly is a departure from the more billowy, hippie chic kind. Pair with a messy top knot and your fave sandals for a great off-duty look.

Eyelet details looks so amazing in white, it just resonates with how feminine and fresh white feels when worn in the summer. Take note of the shoulder cut-out details and the super trendy flat mule.

Karlie Kloss a.k.a “The Body” is one of the most popular, in-demand models at the moment. This Victoria’s Secret Angel doesn’t just have her killer, toned bod going for her. She also has contracts with brands like Juicy Couture, Joe Fresh, and Lacoste as well as with high fashion houses like Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, and Dior, to name a few. A quintessential part of Taylor Swift‘s girl gang (Karlie was in the recent Bad Blood video), Karlie’s star is at its pinnacle, and the way things are going, she’ll be one of the supermodels of our time.

How gorgeous does Karlie look in her new Versace campaign? Green with envy. Literally.

This navy blue Jason Wu gown is pure royalty. I love it! It’s made for the red carpet.

Multi-awarded Australian actress and producer Nicole Kidman has made a solid name for herself in the film industry as a prolific actress with major acting chops. Tall, statuesque, and striking Kidman has played a variety of roles ranging from Virginia Woolf to Grace of Monaco. Her famous relationships, a marriage with Tom Cruise and her successful marriage with Keith Urban, aside, Nicole Kidman has more than her acting achievements and Hollywood and worldwide fame going for her. She lands on the best dressed list almost every single time she steps onto the red carpet. Her red carpet style is classic and flawless, just like she is.

Here are my picks for Nicole Kidman’s best looks on and off the red carpet:

An update on the classic LBD, the sheer paneling of this dress and the little collar detail just make for an absolutely darling combination. Nicole finished off this look beautifully with black onyx drop earrings and a pair of red sexy stiletto heels.

We’re not accustomed to seeing Nicole Kidman dressed down. But even her version of dressing down still contains her signature polish and sophisticated sense of style. The polka dot sweater and printed trousers work so well together because of the unified color scheme of black and white. I especially love the slightly oversized cuffs peeking out from underneath her sweater. The black bow pumps are amazing too!

What makes this dress a red carpet standout is that bow tied around the neck, which cascades to the back. Kidman is an expert at selecting red carpet gowns that combine a simple silhouette with a dramatic detail, this is one such dress. The halter neckline is also perfect on her lithe frame. She lets the color sing and keeps her beauty look natural.

This sweet springtime inspired frock is completely adorable. What adds a bit of edge to it are the cutouts laid over top and her sleek up do. Opting to finish off the look with a pair of coral pumps is a great choice as it adds a strong hint of bright hue to this ensemble.

Kidman’s brand of sex appeal is all about showing off the right things. Whether it’s her toned shoulders or in this case, her great legs, she abides by the rule of thumb that you should only expose one portion of your body to achieve tasteful and sexy at the same time. The studs on her dress and the multiple straps on her footwear add to the seductive feel of this look.

This embellished gown gives a strong statement on color. The understated and elegant navy color is what provides the timelessness to this dress, any other color would’ve been too boring or too over-the-top. Navy hits all the right notes. Special attention must be paid to Kidman’s beauty look here, center parted poker straight hair with smoky eyes and pink pout, so modern and elegant.

I am positively in love with this dress! It is one of those dress silhouettes that has a little bit of vintage inspiration but definitely feels contemporary. Nicole looks stunning in it! The dress hugs her every curve and looks great against her skin tone and red hair.

Singapore Fashion Week: Lace-Up Heels

Today is the first day of Singapore Fashion Week and I decided to make a little prediction on what the street stylers and trend setters are going to choose when it comes to shoes.

We shall see if I am right by the end of the week! In the mean time…Ta-da!

Yes, as you have probably guessed, it is Lace Up Heels.

There is always a footwear trend every season that prove to be the fast favorite among the fashion crowd. This year, lace-up heels seems to be the reigning shoe of the moment. From the platforms to the mules, lace-up heels are definitely the more glamorous and more feminine of other shoe trends. Delicate straps accentuate and flatter your legs and the sleek design is easy to coordinate with looks. Lace-up heels have just enough detail to be interesting, but since the details are more on the subtle side, it doesn’t overwhelm your #OOTD.  Lace-up heels make the right statement, and investing in a pair is the right move this season for any fashionista.

Fashionistas all over the globe have been spotted by street style photographer lens in lace-up heels. Here’s my rundown of street style looks that should inspire your lace-up heel style this year:

Take your eyes off Olivia Palermo’s flawless print on print ensemble for a second, and avert your gaze onto her rich forest green lace-up heels. I love how the romantic feel of the jewel toned lace up heel contrasts against the graphic black and white separates.

Another modern style icon, Alexa Chung, lends downtown cool to the conventional evening feel of lace-up heels. With her trademark mini, vintage framed bag, and tomboyish sweater, she lends a definite mod vibe to this look.

Anna Kendrick shows off her style smarts, since the delicate details of lace-up heels are perfect for girls with petite frames. These snakeskin lace-up heels match perfectly with her black dress and white blazer. I love that pop of orange too!

A fringe skirt makes a major splash, but these white lace-up heels look just as good with it. It continues the movement in the look and coordinates with the summery vibe of this look.

Consider these nude lace-up heels your best friend for the summer. More than being leg-lengthening, these nude sandals are versatile. It looks stunning with this midi skirt, and is sure to look just as great with your summery rompers or denim shorts.

Although commonly associated with boho style, brown lace-up sandals can also go with more graphic pieces, just like these striped trousers.

Blogger Aimee Song of Song of Style is so good at mixing trends with more dressed up pieces. She does so quite brilliantly when she mixes trendy blue lace-up heels with a dove gray and white structured set.

Actress and style blogger Jamie Chung adds a flashy flair to her casual daytime style. Her tasseled and lace up sandals uplift her cropped top and joggers ensemble. I especially love the black footwear with the earthy tones of the look.In fashion, sometimes opposites do attract. A very sporty top juxtaposed with the sophistication and sexiness of lace-up heels is an ingenious way to set yourself apart from your run-of-the-mill aspiring fashionista.

Victoria Beckham, known to 90s lovers as Posh Spice, has truly made a name for herself in the fashion industry. Her early affinity for designer labels, Gucci in particular, and little black dresses shot her to fame–not counting her membership in mega girl group Spice Girls, of course. She may be out of the entertainment industry now, but she has managed to plant her foot firmly into the fashion and retail industry. Her namesake fashion line, Victoria Beckham, has been staging one stunning season after another, and the handbags from her line are quickly reaching cult status with fashion industry insiders. She is more than just an ex-Spice Girl and she is definitely more than one half of “Posh and Becks,” she has made herself into a style icon and fashion mogul.

Victoria is coming over to Singapore to close Singapore Fashion Week 2015 this Sunday. With all the tickets to her show sold out way before all the rest it is obvious there is no hotter celebrity right now. To those hoping David is going to join his sweetheart at her show: I’m with you people!!!

Is there anything more classy and luxurious than a camel colored look? Victoria Beckham proves its timeless appeal. With details like a cap toe heel, leopard print handbag and a ribboned belt, she elevates the innate elegance of this camel trousers and trench pairing.

Red is such a powerful color. Wearing it from top to toe is a testament to one’s confidence and fashion savvy. A neat ponytail and classic sunnies finish off this sophisticated fiery red look. Note that embellished waist detail and conservative yet fetching dress slit.

Covered up for the fall and still sexy, Victoria Beckham is indeed the master of looking glam at any time of day. Clad in a comfy white turtleneck and a knit skirt, Becks truly wows with the ultimate autumn outfit accent, a sexy pair of tall suede burgundy boots.

Airport style is another fashion arena where Victoria Beckham shines. Her jet set lifestyle as a fashion designer, mom, and wife to a soccer star, takes her to many places and she always makes sure that she looks amazing at every destination. A blue oxford button down with a floral pencil skirt is laid back and simple, yet amazingly put together too.

Victoria Beckham has always been a fan of fashion luxury. Her fur shrug and Hermes Birkin proves her love. Worn with skin tight skinnies and black ultra high platforms, she still gains a fashion edge and avoids that brand victim trap.

Pencil skirts are key to Victoria Beckham’s signature personal style. A classic 50s combo of sweater and pencil skirt gets upgraded with a scarf, to add a certain Parisian flair. Becks is certainly one woman that oozes that “je ne sais quoi.”

An ultra girly and adorable mod inspired frock takes centerstage in this ensemble. Balanced with rock n’ roll ankle booties, Victoria Beckham surely defines style with an edge in this look. I just love the scalloped detailing in this look.

This look is a bit of a throwback from Victoria’s fashion archives, which is precisely why it cements her style icon status. Even during her youth, she already knows what works for her sartorially. Chic and simple, her former trademark angled bob perfectly accents her cream colored flouncy tiered ruffle dress.

Fur makes another appearance in this list, and this definitely showcases her British spunk. Neatly pulled back hair, an oversized envelope clutch, plus a one-two punch of opaque tights and ankle booties, Victoria Beckham’s style is overflowing with so much pizzazz and undone glamour.

Style Icon: Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is proof that your style improves and gets better with age. This 40-something triple threat is showing no signs of slowing down, despite adding mother of twins to her resume. Oh, let’s not forget her American Idol judge stint too. This actress-singer-dancer can include style icon to her long list of credentials too. Her recent Oscars dress, that low cut nude glittering gown from Elie Saab, is a far cry from her now infamous Versace jungle dress.

Her style evolution is one to watch and here I give you a rundown of my favorite looks from J. Lo.

Fur has always been in J.Lo’s repertoire. It is right up her alley since fur has always been the perfect representation of glam, whether it is in a casual or formal setting. The fur-lined collar of her gray coat and her black and glittery silver pumps is the epitome of fall style with a glitzy upgrade, of course.

Jennifer Lopez certainly knows how to play up her assets, one of which is her incredible bronzed complexion. The dusty pink hue of this look complements her amazing tan and it shows that you don’t have to reveal a lot of skin to exude sex appeal. That little bit of decolletage goes a long way.

J. Lo breaks a fashion rule and establishes herself as a fashion renegade as she matches her eyeshadow with her rust-colored full shantung skirt. What would normall be a fashion no-no becomes a surprisingly chic element in this look. Perhaps because the rest of this outfit, from the classic black pumps, snakeskin box clutch, and white halter crop top are all understated.

Red is the go-to color for fashion vamps. It is the color that instantly grabs attention, oozes with mega confidence, and convey the maximum amount of sexy. This is exactly the formula for Lopez’s standout style. This red chiffon double slit number is one of her most memorable red carpet moments. Classic Hollywood glamour personified. 

Although sexy style is her bread and butter, Jennifer Lopez turns heads in this ladylike style. This outfit certainly speaks to how her style has evolved over the years, and has taken a more sophisticated turn. I personally love that peplum skirt detail and that delicate gold anklet adorning her right foot, such a charming little accessory.

In a monochromatic blush/nude look, this athleisure look is Jenny from the block all grown up. The urban style that J. Lo started out in the industry with, became a lot more refined as the years passed. The result? This ensemble that is equal parts casual, polished, and alluring.

Wow! Look at those toned gams! Lopez certainly isn’t one to shy away from short hemlines and a whole lot of snakeskin. She makes this head-to-toe snakeskin look work, by keeping things straightforward and letting the print be the focus. I am loving the 60s vibe of this look too.

Making a romper look glamorous is a tall order, Jennifer Lopez is certainly up to the task. She instantly ups the chicness of this navy romper with nude pumps, leather studded cuffs, and her signature aviators. This look certainly spells superstar.

Siberian-born model Elena Perminova has been a permanent front row fixture as well as a fervent supporter and wearer of haute couture. Perminova is a member of the ubiquitous ‘Russian Pack’ along with Ulyana Sergeenko and Vika Gazinskaya, both couture designers; and Miroslava Duma, a fashion journalist and style blogger. More than putting Russian fashion on the map, Perminova adds a distinct charm and playfulness to her looks that makes her style so exciting to observe. Wife to media mogul, Alexander Lebedev, and mother of three, Elena Perminova’s jet set lifestyle and taste for the finer things in fashion betrays her down-to-earth charm and youthful sartorial individuality.

Here are some of my favorite street style and Fashion Week looks from Elena Perminova:

A straw hat with a metallic platinum dress is simply put, a stroke of style genius. Perminova has always proven herself to be the master of unexpected fashion combinations, and this look is a testament to her fashion savvy. Notice how her casual flats balance then ultra short hemline and evening appeal of her high shine frock? Definitely a styling tip to take note of.

With the “it bag” of the upcoming spring season, the Chloe Drew bag, slung around her toned shoulders, she sashays effortlessly into another fashion show front row, no doubt. The bright blue hue of the bag stands out against her minimalist chic off-white sweater dress and thigh-high boots duo.

Showing off her penchant for color, Perminova puts her own spin on the classic trench dress as she dons it in a beautiful deep turquoise. With a trendy 70s silhouette, she teaches us a thing or two about statement dressing. Pick a maximum impact piece, and let it shine.

Displaying the one-of-a-kind blend of edgy elegance that she is known for, Perminova puts together a patent crocodile print with a prim navy blazer and tough gal chic Balenciaga cut-out boots for a look that is bursting with street style cred.

Want to dress up your denim? Take your style cues from Elena Perminova. A feminine ruffled blouse tucked into dark denim with a light stone wash is given the high fashion treatment with such choice add-ons such as a pair of sleek white pumps, an oversized tan leather clutch with zipper embellishments, and a pair of round sunnies.
