10 Summer to Fall Outfit Ideas: Street Style Edition

I love street style. We all do. It is so refreshing to see real people from all around the globe take on trends and interpret it in their own unique way. I know that I get tons of style inspiration from street style. As we fashionistas prepare for the changing of the seasons, let us allow these street style standouts to guide us. Here are some of the truly stellar outfits I’ve come across, consider this my styling cheat sheet for stunning summer-to-fall style:

Bring your Florals into Fall

Floral print is one the best parts of spring/summer style. Bring your love for floral style into the fall by wearing it with classic fall pieces like knit sweaters, leather jackets, tights, and booties.

Pastel Trousers Instead of Dark Denim

We all love our denim, but there are days that require a little bit of refresh. Bring in a bit of the new and mix up your summer to fall outfits with some pastel trousers. Plus, these pastel trousers are a novel way to add more color into your look, and it looks way more polished too.

Layering with Denim Cutoffs

You practically live in denim cutoffs during the summer. Don’t let go of these shorts just yet when you wear tights underneath it instantly feels like fall. Thrown in sleek boots and blazer for good measure.

Cape Chic

Designers were all hot and heavy for the cape for Fall 2015, a major piece to invest in to update your closet, you can always count on capes for exceptional transitional staying power. Throw onto any ensemble for extra coziness.

Cozy Up Your Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses are just so comfy and chic. These easy and breezy pieces can last until fall when layered with a slouchy knit cardigan. Finish off with ankle boots and maybe even a scarf, and you’re all set.

Breathe New Life Into Your Summer Dress

A summer shirtdress can be worn beyond the beach or boardwalk. Layer a turtleneck underneath your dress and put a belt on to create a flattering silhouette around the waist. Knee-high boots in an animal print turn up the glam even further.

Jump Into Fall

Overalls are such a fun summer trend. Keep the fashion fun going when you layer a ribbed knit sweater underneath. You can even opt to up the style ante with a statement necklace or status bag.

Don’t Leave Your Colorful Summer Sneakers Behind

When the seasons change and temps get colder, you may be tempted to stick to a neutral palette. Resist that urge and wear color when you feel like it. Not only is it a mood booster, but color makes you stand out from the crowd. Continue wearing your colorful summer sneakers well into the season and increase the chicness when you match your cold weather accessories, like the beanie, with your sneaker color.

Katy Perry has so many chart-topping hits, worldwide sold out tours, music awards and accolades, magazine covers, and memorable videos under her belt. She is definitely one of the most popular faces and voices in the music industry today.

More than her infectious songs, Katy Perry has also proven herself quite the style influencer and chameleon.

Aside from her awe inspiring costumes on tour and while performing, Katy has consistently expressed her vibrant and provocative personal style every single time she steps out. The best part about her style is its uniqueness and unpredictability. You never know what style move she’s going to show next. Here’s a quick look at Katy Perry‘s best style moments:

Graffiti chic during the Met Gala, Katy Perry achieves a red carpet coup yet again with this Moschino spray painted gown with matching spray paint can bag. So fun!

Dressing up in Coachella the way only Katy Perry knows how, this irreverent and romantic lace cream frock is just the unexpected style choice that we’ve come to see from Katy. The extra long pearl necklace and ribboned headband sweeten the deal too.

Hitting the Grammy red carpet in all blue. Literally blue from head to toe, she matches her beautiful embellished down with her blue ‘do. The powder blue hue is ethereal and an off-the-beaten path choice for the red carpet but it works.

Blue seems to be Katy’s color. This time around, her bright cobalt blue is made even better by its leather material and sheer embellished paneling on the top. The thin ribboned belt at the waist is also a nice touch. Those shoes might be a step too far though, they have this weird “doll” vibe that seems out of place here. Simple nude suede or leather pumps would look much better.

Katy’s ever changing hair color is one of her signature style accessories. Resplendent with purple hued locks, her nude peek-a-boo dress shows off her amazing curves in style. I love how she let the dress take center stage and kept the rest of her look simple, incredibly sexy.

Provocative and high fashion, this red carpet look from Katy is one of my favorites. It’s almost Madonna-esque in its uniqueness. The embellishment overload works in her favor. This is my favourite look for her, it is very grown up, somewhat traditional, very luxury and at the same time has playfulness and youthful vibe added by those sleeves.

Katy Perry’s shoot for Wonderland Magazine is further proof of her chameleon-like characteristics. I mean, how great does she looks with red hair and full bangs?

Multiple colored feathers and multiple straps on the back, can you get any more couture than that? I love the matching bleached brows and blonde sleek hair too! I don’t think I would recognise her like this.

Another proof that blue is Katy’s color. Love that oversized ribbon.

Long, poker straight hair complements the beautiful print of this column gown. The print has got me ooh-ing and aah-ing.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is poised to take over Hollywood with her recent role in Mad Max: Fury Road. This supermodel and erstwhile actress has also been attracting attention largely due to her amazing style. From her off-duty airport looks, red-carpet glamour, and casual chic street style, Rosie H. has been consistently on the mark.

Her covetable closet and impeccable style aside (and her longtime relationship with Jason Statham), Rosie Huntingon-Whiteley has been one of the most successful models as of late. Starting her career with Victoria’s Secret and Burberry, this supermodel has been the darling of the fashion world.

Rosie is a complete pro in conveying her signature sultry elegance.

On the cover of Vogue Deutsch, she exudes the classy gait of the modern woman. I love this red trench she dons on the cover. Not to mention her enviable pout.

 

Shooting an exclusive with more avant-garde Exit Magazine, Rosie shows off her bangin’ bod in this peek-a-boo one-piece number. I love the feel of the editorial, from the styling, setting, and art direction. It feels so very Mad Max: Fury Road, no?

Now onto the style… Rosie Huntington-Whiteley‘ style has been well-documented and widely admired for good reason. She simply exudes an effortless sophistication with just the right hint of sexy. Her style is something to be inspired by, for sure.

A green glitter column gown with strategic cut-outs looks amazing on Rosie. What makes this look even more stunning is her adorable shoulder length bob. s is how you dress up for a star-studded Vanity Fair party.

This is such an adorable take on retro dressing. Vintage print, knee-high suede boots, and round sunnies spell instant mod style.

A canary yellow draped dress makes her look every inch of the goddess she is.

All white gets more exciting with a fuzzy white texture. It really all about texture, ladies.

Rosie’s standout style really shines when she’s in transit. Want proof? Just look at this polished ensemble.

Ladylike yet still sexy, that’s one of the ways you can describe Rosie’s style. A form-fitting mini with a blush pink blazer is classically feminine yet modern.

Karlie Kloss a.k.a “The Body” is one of the most popular, in-demand models at the moment. This Victoria’s Secret Angel doesn’t just have her killer, toned bod going for her. She also has contracts with brands like Juicy Couture, Joe Fresh, and Lacoste as well as with high fashion houses like Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, and Dior, to name a few. A quintessential part of Taylor Swift‘s girl gang (Karlie was in the recent Bad Blood video), Karlie’s star is at its pinnacle, and the way things are going, she’ll be one of the supermodels of our time.

How gorgeous does Karlie look in her new Versace campaign? Green with envy. Literally.

This navy blue Jason Wu gown is pure royalty. I love it! It’s made for the red carpet.

Karlie Kloss looks positively radiant in this Vogue shoot. That tortoiseshell belt is exquisite!

How do you elevate a basic pair of ballet flats? Throw on leather leggings and a blazer-cape hybrid. So fashion forward.

Make your white frock feel more modern with structured heels. I love how minimalist this is. Sophisticated and chic!

What I love about Karlie’s style is that she knows exactly what works for her. This silky scarf gown is a perfect example. The lace-up heels make it more edgy, and less typical lady.

Consider this look your next office style inspiration. Black and white plus tailored to perfection equals classy and powerful style.

Perk up your black trousers and white button-down with a tote that’s anything but basic, just like Karlie does.

Karlie makes a compelling case for winter whites. The cable knit sweater gives just the right amount of texture to this look.

Blue tweed with an A-line silhouette is universally flattering, and Karlie knows it.

Madonna has long been noted for her ever-changing looks. A true fashion chameleon, she has gone from fashion rebel in the 80s, sultry leather clad vixen in the 90s, avant-garde style maven in the 00’s, and finally to sophisticated glamazon. Her fashion line, Material Girl, with her daughter, Lola has been hugely successful and a testament to her fashion prowess. She is a true quadruple threat, Madonna is a singer, dancer, actress, and designer. A true style icon.

Here are some of my favorite Madonna looks:

Green fringe, Veronica Lake inspired waves, and a bold red lip spell Old Hollywood glam. But the armful of bangles on each arm say modern and edgy.

Pictured with her gorgeous daughter, Lola, Madonna goes back to her 80s roots with sexy lace and fur.

I am simply in love with this satin embellished gown! Such a departure from typical red carpet glam.

Who can pull of this menswear inspired outfit better than Madonna? No one. Gotta love those diamond encrusted gloves.

Clad in Versace, Madonna shows off her yoga-toned bod while dripping in jewels.

A frequent collaborator of famous photographer duo, Mert and Marcus, Madonna wows once again in this Marilyn Monroe inspired shoot.

Another Mert and Marcus collaboration for Interview Magazine, this photo is an update of her style back in the 80s. I love those stacked chain arm candy!

Mert and Marcus are incredible when capturing Madonna’s verve and unique energy. This shoot for her MDNA album is like a throwback to the time of Gaultier bustiers and Vogue-ing. I love it!

CFDA Awards 2015 Report

Kim Kardashian’s fire emergency aside, this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards was full of fashion inspiration and sartorial surprises. Celebrating the very best of fashion design, the CFDA Awards this year did not fail to amaze and to provoke a deeper love for the industry and it’s creative minds.

But before we get to the awards part of the evening,let me bring you some choice red carpet snaps of my personal picks for best dressed.

Shayne Oliver,the designer behind hip and happening brand Hood By Air, won the Swarovski Award for Menswear.

If you haven’t heard of Mansur Gavriel, you’re not a true fashionista. The covetable minimalist bucket bags from the brands are must-haves for It girls everywhere. Floriana Gavriel and Rachel Mansur, the creatives behind the brand, won the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.

Kanye West presented Pharrell Williams with the Fashion Icon Award. He completely deserves it. His recent collaboration with Adidas is proof of his design acumen and style savvy.

The night wouldn’t be complete without a Betsey Johnson split. The fun and forever young designer won the night’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and stayed true to her playfulness by repeatedly breaking out her splits throughout the night.

The leopard slip-on heeled mules and the casual striped tank is an unexpected combo that works. The Hermes Birkin and white cropped pant add that polish, that her style is known for.

Miranda’s jetsetting lifestyle necessitates impeccable airport style, and her outfits while in transit is always on point. A top knot and oversized sunglasses are practical, while her Chanel tweed jacket and D’orsay low heels are ladylike and comfortable at the same time.

Of course, I can’t do her best looks without some of her amazing red carpet style. This white gown with gold embellishments and sexy cutouts is a stunner. With red lips and wavy Veronica Lake inspired hair waves, this looks is Grecian goddess meets Old Hollywood.

Miranda Kerr knows how to channel sexy, and she shows in this look that you don’t need to bare too much skin to be sexy. A curve-hugging lace frock with pointed toe T-strap heels feels vintage yet modern, feminine yet sassy.

Miranda’s sartorial skill? Mixing trends while still keeping it classy. A white jumpsuit with a fringe jacket is already a bold statement, but she adds an extra layer of glam with a gold minaudiere, embellished ankle strap heels, and a Versace belt. Singapore Fashion Week: Lace-Up Heels

Today is the first day of Singapore Fashion Week and I decided to make a little prediction on what the street stylers and trend setters are going to choose when it comes to shoes.

We shall see if I am right by the end of the week! In the mean time…Ta-da!

Yes, as you have probably guessed, it is Lace Up Heels.

There is always a footwear trend every season that prove to be the fast favorite among the fashion crowd. This year, lace-up heels seems to be the reigning shoe of the moment. From the platforms to the mules, lace-up heels are definitely the more glamorous and more feminine of other shoe trends. Delicate straps accentuate and flatter your legs and the sleek design is easy to coordinate with looks. Lace-up heels have just enough detail to be interesting, but since the details are more on the subtle side, it doesn’t overwhelm your #OOTD.  Lace-up heels make the right statement, and investing in a pair is the right move this season for any fashionista.

Fashionistas all over the globe have been spotted by street style photographer lens in lace-up heels. Here’s my rundown of street style looks that should inspire your lace-up heel style this year:

Take your eyes off Olivia Palermo’s flawless print on print ensemble for a second, and avert your gaze onto her rich forest green lace-up heels. I love how the romantic feel of the jewel toned lace up heel contrasts against the graphic black and white separates.

Another modern style icon, Alexa Chung, lends downtown cool to the conventional evening feel of lace-up heels. With her trademark mini, vintage framed bag, and tomboyish sweater, she lends a definite mod vibe to this look.

Anna Kendrick shows off her style smarts, since the delicate details of lace-up heels are perfect for girls with petite frames. These snakeskin lace-up heels match perfectly with her black dress and white blazer. I love that pop of orange too!

A fringe skirt makes a major splash, but these white lace-up heels look just as good with it. It continues the movement in the look and coordinates with the summery vibe of this look.

Actress and style blogger Jamie Chung adds a flashy flair to her casual daytime style. Her tasseled and lace up sandals uplift her cropped top and joggers ensemble. I especially love the black footwear with the earthy tones of the look.In fashion, sometimes opposites do attract. A very sporty top juxtaposed with the sophistication and sexiness of lace-up heels is an ingenious way to set yourself apart from your run-of-the-mill aspiring fashionista.

She may be out of the entertainment industry now, but she has managed to plant her foot firmly into the fashion and retail industry. Her namesake fashion line, Victoria Beckham, has been staging one stunning season after another, and the handbags from her line are quickly reaching cult status with fashion industry insiders. She is more than just an ex-Spice Girl and she is definitely more than one half of “Posh and Becks,” she has made herself into a style icon and fashion mogul.

Victoria is coming over to Singapore to close Singapore Fashion Week 2015 this Sunday. With all the tickets to her show sold out way before all the rest it is obvious there is no hotter celebrity right now. To those hoping David is going to join his sweetheart at her show: I’m with you people!!!

Is there anything more classy and luxurious than a camel colored look? Victoria Beckham proves its timeless appeal. With details like a cap toe heel, leopard print handbag and a ribboned belt, she elevates the innate elegance of this camel trousers and trench pairing.

Red is such a powerful color. Wearing it from top to toe is a testament to one’s confidence and fashion savvy. A neat ponytail and classic sunnies finish off this sophisticated fiery red look. Note that embellished waist detail and conservative yet fetching dress slit.

Covered up for the fall and still sexy, Victoria Beckham is indeed the master of looking glam at any time of day. Clad in a comfy white turtleneck and a knit skirt, Becks truly wows with the ultimate autumn outfit accent, a sexy pair of tall suede burgundy boots.
